For the vast majority of listings on the market, open houses are not necessary. In fact, you'll notice that most open houses are conducted by newer or inexperienced agents hoping to gain new clients from random visitors touring the property.

Most buyers who are truly serious about purchasing a new home will hire an agent to help search and schedule showings.

There are some rare instances where an open house might be helpful. However, in today's seller's market, an open house is not going to make or break a sale. More focus should be put on digital marketing and other aspects that actual help sellers.
